How My Son Sees It

How My Son Sees It is an exploration of childhood wonder, quiet imagination, and the delicate bond between humans and the natural world. Inspired by my son—who, for a long time, didn’t speak much but spent hours lost in silent play—this series imagines how he might see these creatures: not as plastic miniatures, but as majestic beings full of life, strength, and mystery.

As adults, we often lose the ability to see with such reverence. We see clutter where children see possibility. But their imaginative lens offers a deeper truth: that these animals matter, that they belong, that they are beautiful.

Each scene also poses a more urgent question: what kind of world will we leave for our children, for their children, and for the generations to follow? With many species threatened by climate change, habitat loss, and overhunting, these images also serve as quiet elegies. The animals in these dioramas are fragile, just like the ecosystems they represent.

Through the lens of play, How My Son Sees It invites viewers to look closer, imagine more boldly, and consider what’s at stake, not just for wildlife, but for the future of wonder itself.
